Turned v

Turned v (majuscule: Ʌ, minuscule: ʌ) is a letter of the Latin alphabet, based on a turned form of V.

It is used in the orthographies of Ch'ol, Nankina, Northern Tepehuán, Temne and Wounaan, but also some orthographies of Ibibio[1].

The Unicode codepoint for lowercase is U+028C ʌ latin small letter turned v (HTML: ʌ ) and for uppercase is U+0245 Ʌ latin capital letter turned v (HTML: Ʌ ).

Its lowercase is used in the International Phonetic Alphabet to represent an open-mid back unrounded vowel, the vowel in plus in many dialects of English.

Despite the similarity in appearance, the letter has no connection to the Greek Λ or the Cyrillic Л.
